Why this special treatment for curls?
Many commercial hair care products contain sulfates and other harsh surfactants to cleanse the hair. These also remove the natural oils from the hair causing it to dry out, resulting in a dull and frizzy result. As a result, people quickly turn to hair masks and conditioners to eliminate this effect. Unfortunately, most masks and conditioners are formulated with silicones and other ingredients that form a film over the hair. This initially provides a nice look, but after a few days the hair will lose its shine and hydration and it will attract dust and dirt much faster. An additional disadvantage is that one cannot simply wash out these products with sulphate-free shampoo, making it a visionary circle of adverse treatments which can cause additional side effects such as flakes and dandruff.
Curly hair is more prone to drying out and frizz
If you want to take good care of your curls, you should avoid using products with the following ingredients:
• So-called banned alcohols (dryers): Denatured alcohol, SD Alcohol, SD Alcohol 40, (Iso)propanol, (Iso)propyl alcohol, Ethanol, Hamamelis water – dry out the hair
• Sulfates: SLS, SLES, etc. – dry out hair and can cause skin irritation
• Silicones – dry out the hair and “build up”
• Parabens – can cause skin irritation, itching, hair loss and may increase the risk of breast cancer
• Mineral oil – creates a film on the hair and is a breeding ground for bacteria
• Wax – lays a film on the hair and is a breeding ground for bacteria

The ideal Natural Curls routine
1) Wet the hair. Apply Extra Virgin Olive Oil (cold pressed) or the hair mask and detangle the hair with your fingers or a suitable comb/brush (depending on your hair type). Then rinse with plenty of water.
2) Wash the hair with the shampoo and then rinse the hair well.
3) Apply the hair mask to the hair. Work from the tips to the roots. Leave it on for 5 minutes and then rinse with plenty of water.
4) Spray the leave-in conditioner on damp hair. Then comb and dry using a diffuser or the finger twist method to accentuate curls styling.
